How to Pray for Your Unborn Baby
How Do I Pray for My Baby?
There is no right or wrong way to pray. The Lord simply wants to hear what’s on your heart! However, if you need some help coming up with the words to say, I always suggest following the applicable guidelines of the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6:9-13.
- Praise God for your baby
- Surrender your baby to His will
- Ask the Lord to give your baby everything he/she needs (health, resources, protection, etc.)
- Ask God to protect your baby from all temptation and evil
Lastly, always end your prayers “in Jesus’ name!”
Why? Because John 14 tells us that “whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
What Does God Say About Babies in the Womb?
Here are three encouraging Bible verses about babies inside the womb! (I’ve bolded some of the most significant points to note!)
- Jeremiah 1:5 — “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
- Psalm 139:13-16 — “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.“
- Galatians 1:15 — “But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace, was pleased…”
Is My Baby a Gift From God?
Yes, your baby is absolutely a gift to you from God, no matter the circumstance. James 1:7 tells us that “every good and perfect gift is from above,” and that’s exactly what your baby is.
Even if you don’t feel like your baby is a blessing right now, once you get to know the baby and experience the innate love God put inside of you for him or her, you will see that he or she truly is a good and perfect gift.
Side note: I was entirely freaking out when I found out I was pregnant. You can read all about how I got through it in my first trimester recap.

Prayer for Unborn Baby and Mother
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for my baby! Thank you for my life and for enabling me to carry this child.
I surrender the lives of both myself and my baby to You right now. We receive your will into our lives. I thank You that this is YOUR baby, and that you are in control.
I pray and thank You in advance for giving my baby and I everything we need. Thank You for supplying food, clean water, shelter, income, clothing, and love and support from friends and family for my unborn baby and I.
Lord, I have a need for _________ right now and I ask that You fill it. I surrender the need to You and I thank you for providing!
I thank you also in advance for protecting my baby and I from all evil; for leading us not into temptation, for making us holy as You are holy, and making us more like Christ.
(Now share any other specific requests or concerns from your heart.)
God, your Word says that whatever we ask for, in faith, through prayer, we shall receive. So, by faith, I receive the answer to all these prayers and I thank You SO much in advance for them!

Protection Prayer for Unborn Baby
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank You that You are the God who goes before us and the God who stands behind us. You are the God of angel armies and you send the angel of the Lord to encamp round about those who fear you. (Psalm 34:7)
Right now, on behalf of my daughter/son, I ask You and thank You for sending your angels to encamp round about him/her.
I thank You for your divine protection, in Jesus’ name!
I thank You that no weapon formed again my baby shall prosper, ever; that he/she is protected all of the days of his/her life!
In Jesus’ name,
Amen!

DAD HAT
This “DAD” hat was the perfect fun touch for our pregnancy announcement pictures! Although my husband refuses to wear his hat as everyday apparel (🙄😂) , he’s gotten use out of it with these pictures and he plans on wearing it on baby delivery day! YAY!
WOMEN’S FEDORA
In our pregnancy photos, I wanted to dress casual (because that’s just who I am as a person 😂), but I knew I needed a little something to make the pics pop because these weren’t just my everyday social media pics! I knew this cute Fedora would be the perfect addition!
DOG BANDANAS
If you know me, you know I had to include our fur children in our pregnancy announcement pics! I thought these bandanas would add the perfect festive touch, and they definitely did!
